Fictional Fabrication

Developmental Edits

$.025 per word

It’s an exciting moment when your first draft is done, but what next? You know you need feedback to move into your next draft. Is your main character believable? Is your world building seamless and immersive? Are there any plot holes?

You’ve spent countless hours planning, plotting, writing, and reading your work and you know it inside out. But it’s easy to overlook pieces of a story you know by heart. A fresh set of eyes can help move your story in the right direction.

During developmental editing I will read through your manuscript to offer feedback regarding content, plot, pacing, characters, narrative voice, and more! This is an extensive editing process that involves in-line comments and an in depth editorial letter. Along with written feedback, I am available to walk through questions and concerns you may have after receiving your editorial letter.

I will focus on:

  • Character analysis
  • Narrative analysis, focused on narrative voice and structure
  • World building analysis
  • Analysis of story’s flow and pacing
  •  Standard manuscript formatting

You will recieve:

  • The edited file including track changes in your preferred format
  • An edited file with all track changes accepted for easy reading
  • A ten to thirty page editorial letter which includes analysis and critique of the manuscript
  • Feedback through in-line comments
  • Access to meetings with me regarding any questions or concerns once the editorial letter is sent over.

About Me

About Me

Hello! My name's Sam and I am a nonbinary (they/them) book lover, writer, and editor. I love all things books from thousand page long high fantasy to short romance novellas. Here you'll find a space to support readers and writers alike with book reviews, lists, writing prompts, and challenges. When I'm not lost in the pages of a book, I can be found with a cup of coffee, walking with my dog, and raving about N.K. Jemisin
